What We Decided to Redesign
For our engineering redesign, my group and I decided to redo our physics of sports video. To improve on this project I would have to reflect on what I did poorly in the last video. In order for this to happen, we had to get straight to work.
We decided to find out the physics of barrel racing. Then we needed to figure out how we were going to plan out our movie. We needed to determine what calculations to figure out, this means that we would be finding the force of the horse standing, the force on the horses feet in motion, the acceleration, and many more. Alongside the physics, we needed to record and explain each step, and put it all into a video. This video needed to fully explain each physical action and even tips for improving. We started by first getting our footage of Kelsea riding her horse Doc. After that, Eliza, Marilynn, Kelsea, and I started putting together of movie. I really enjoyed working with this group and we all got along very well with each other.

Physics Concepts
Force: the mass times acceleration of an object. We used force in two ways, the first was to find the force of the horse standing regularly and the second way was to find the force the horse exerts on it's own feet. Another equation to find force is mv=ft. We used this equation to find the force of the horses feet in motion.
Momentum: the tendency of a moving object to move forward. We found the momentum of the horse at start and at the end of it's run around a single barrel using the equation p=mv.
Deceleration: the slowing of acceleration. In barrel racing, the horses decelerate as the enter the turn around the barrel. We found Doc's deceleration by using the equation A= change in velocity divided by change in time.
Acceleration: the rate of change of velocity. We found the acceleration of the horse as it exits the curve using the same equation we used for deceleration.
Velocity: the rate of distance traveled in a direction. By using the equation v= change in distance over change in time, we found that Doc's velocity was roughly 18.8 meters per second.

Reflection
This project was very exciting, but also sad because this was our last project of the year. I really enjoyed working with my group, and had a lot of fun putting this together. I also learned a lot about barrel racing. I didn't really know what it was and how hard it is to do. There's many ways you can mess up and potentially damage you horse or yourself. For example, when rounding the curves you have to slow the horse down because it can't turn at high speeds easily and so this can cause injury. there were many things I learned from this project.
One thing I think I could of done better on was time management. We were rushed in the end and barely finished it. We had put our song in on the day of presenting it. Except we had a slight delay, because when we tried to add the song it deleted some of our voice-overs. Other than that I feel like I could've had some more involvement in the project. I sometimes sat there and watched other people do things, while I actually wasn't doing it. I should push myself to stay more involved and not sit back. However, I feel as if I improved greatly from my last physics of sports video. One thing I really improved upon from last video was the overall quality of the video. My last video was kind of thrown together and had little information. This newer video has more information about barrel racing and had tips and tricks for improving your skill and time. My team and I also greatly improved on was the calculations. I feel like my calculations from last time were off and I only did two calculations for the whole video. This time I feel like the calculations were accurate and had more a lot more to show. This was a much better video than my last one and I am glad I got to look back and compare the two.
